Behind-the-Scenes

My Hair So Far

Ok, so I thought I would show a few pics I have been able to fish out showing how my hair has changed and responded to my "treatments" since August 2011 lol. I had all my damaged ends chopped off and styled by this amazing hairdresser in Kent. My hair felt and look like a weave...well, to me anyways. I was well pleased. But then obviously, I was a newbie to the whole take-care-of-your-own-hair movement so the health of my hair suffered slight during my experimentation stage.

Here is a picture of my hair when I had it cut. Sorry, for the atrocious thing that is covering my face...I couldn't bare to force you to see my non-Kerry Washongton type face lol You can still see me but I feel more comforatble this way haha.
I am so sad that I did not follow the advice of so many other peeps emabrking on their HHJ- take pictures documenting the changes in your hair. But I am rectifying that now. Sorry for the horrible quality but here are a couple of pictures of my hair in Februry and March 2012:
So, we can see that it is growing. Slowly, but surely, it is growing lol. Then enters a picture I took of my hair in April/May. My hair looks awful but its "growing" smh. I was documenting what I was doing to my hair in a book but in my move from my old flat to my new one, it is stashed away somewhere lol:
Now, here is where my hair just decided that it will become healthy. I was obviously doing something right. But all I can remember really doing is changing my relaxer from Gentle Treatment to ORS and adding Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) to my regimen. JBCO is one of the best natural oils I have ever used for my pre-treatments. And I also started stretching my relaxers from the 2months I was doing before to 3months. This was my hair after I relaxed it at the end of July this year:

Oh yeah. My hair is looking might fiiiiiiiine I know ;) When I saw this I was like- YES!!! Finally, some results. My hair is normally quite thin at the ends and I was really trying to get the thickness of my hair to travel all the way down from root to tip. Here is my hair 3 months later (October 2012):

Do you guys see the shine??? Don't ruin my parade and say it was the camera...which it probably was but that is not the point. The point is I somehow found a way to correct my regimen and actually listen to  my hair. I just hope I haven't messed up my slight progress during this 3 month stretch as winter has not been kind to me at all :( I will update you on my progress in Januray 2013

Till next time!
Luv, Mo xx
