THE TV EDIT: SHERLOCK

To all my friends out there who watched this show and did not deem it necessary to mention in our conversations with each other just how great this show is, you are hereby placed in detention because this is a serious crime not right! How could you be so greedy?? All you literally had to say was, ' Hey, I know you are juggling quite a few tv shows at the moment but do try and squeeze in Sherlock. Trust me, you won't regret it!'. Or something along those lines. I would have listened, added it to my list and thanked you with a hug, maybe a homemade cake and a cold glass of Shloer #JustSayin :P To those of you who are sadly not aware of this show, let me take this opportunity to introduce you to the BBC TV drama: Sherlock

I started watching this show last weekend and I can unashamedly admit that I am in love with the show. I don't know how that works exactly but it is what I feel. So if I tell you 'I love you lots like BBC One's Sherlock' just know in advance that a proposal from me is just round the corner... haha. I am so glad that this is the 1st show I'm talking about for my 'The TV Edit' series!! Ok I'll tone done my excitement for a few moments to tell you more about the show and what to expect.

Sherlock, as you can probably deduce (oooh see what I did there??), is a crime drama series that is a modern day adaptation of the tales of the ever-so-reliable detective, Sherlock Holmes dreamt up by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Created by Steven Moffat (CouplingDoctor WhoThe Adventures of Tintin) and Mark Gatiss (Doctor WhoBeing HumanSense & Sensibility), this lovely series first aired back in 2010 (How could you leave me in the dark for almost 4 years guys??) and now has 3 seasons under it's belt. But before you jump up and down thinking you have 72 episodes to go through think again. Each season has 3 episodes (*gasp*)... buuuuut they are about 1.5 hrs long. It is like a motion picture hybrid. A tv-show made up of movie. I love it!

Although I must admit it sucks that there are only 3 episode per season. I mean... they could've gone up in multiple of 3's if they love the number 3. So... I guess I must thank the friends of mine that are in detention for their greed as I never had to wait as long as they did for more episodes to come round again.

I am not sure if I have fully expressed my...adoration for Martin Freeman's and Benedict Cumberbatch's work on here and to spare you the trauma of listening to me jabbering on about them I won't... today at least. However I will say this, both of them together in this show playing the characters they do is casting at its greatest. The chemistry between them is fantastic. I mean. I know they sort of worked together in The Hobbit series but that doesn't count...to me anyway. Benedict Cumberbatch (The Fifth Estate12 Years A SlaveStar Trek Into The Darkness) plays the highly intelligent, egotistical and impatient Sherlock Holmes whilst Martin Freeman (The Hobbit 2The Hobbit 1Love Actually) plays the highly dependable, brave and thrill-seeking doctor John Watson. Mark Gatiss pries himself from his scriptwriting duties to make appearances as a shifty looking fellow whose presence in the show only adds to its greatness. The lovely Una Stubbs (EastEndersThe Worst WitchTill Death Us Do Part) takes on the role of the warm-hearted and tolerant Mrs Hudson who brings a bit of...normalcy to the show. She is definitely one of my favourite characters!

I am aware that the number of episodes I have left to watch are slowly decreasing and apparently the 3rd season isn't as great as the first (???) but I don't care. I am sure I'll love it haha! To me, Sherlock is one of those shows I can definitely watch over and over again just so I catch every single bit of detail. I will update this post (or publish another one) once I've seen season 3 and let you know my thoughts on it. To be fair I'm probably the sort of person that would create a 'Sherlock' series on this good ol' blog of mine but then I'll run the risk of revealing little spoilers -and we all know how I loathe spoilers - so I shan't do it :'(.

IMDb gave this show a whopping 9.3/10... I'm giving it a 9.5... Ooooh yeah!

What's your favourite TV show at the moment?
