I am yet to find the words to describe If Beale Street Could Talk’s heartbreakingly beautiful score by Nicholas Britell. It has dominated what I listen to on my way to work, whilst I am working and before I go to bed. It’s just… Even if you haven’t seen the film yet (it’s HIGHLY unlikely you’d regret watching it), I think you’d still be able to fall in love with the music like I have.

I know Nicholas Britell also worked on Moonlight with Barry Jenkins but that is as far as my intel goes; I am hoping that this episode of Soundtracking With Edith Bowman will change this. Anyway, watch the trailer below or, better yet, watch the film and allow the story & music to flow through you, to change you, to challenge you.

I will be reading James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk as part of my commitment to reading so expect another post related to this story sometime this year. Until then, I hope you have a great day!
